Kemas's Wearable Make-up Packaging
Too often, we’re burdened with items that serve a single purpose, and have to be lugged around. If the technology space has shown us anything, it’s that people appreciate convergence – we like to have one thing that does a variety of tasks, like smart phones that allow us to organize tasks, surf the Web, check e-mail, take pictures, listen to music and, last but not least, make calls. Kemas has done much the same thing on a somewhat smaller scale, by taking product packaging that’s typically made to be thrown into a bag or purse, and has made it wearable.
Rather than be considered a burden, make-up can now be taken around as something glitzy, glamourous and fun to wear. The first run of the company’s wearable make-up line features its signature four-petal floral design, in a variety of sizes, product types and target uses.
An example is this small fob, which can hold a variety of make-up products, like lip gloss, eye shadow, or blush. It’s pretty, decorative and can be attached in any number of places – a wallet zipper, a purse toggle, a cellphone or the requisite necklace strap, making it a wearable product. A company could even choose to do a combo line and offer the pendant with a funky matching ring – one for gloss, the other for shadow, without having to put either in a purse.
To round out the offering, the company also offers a traditional lipstick and a classic compact, though the compact features a fob coupling so that it can be worn or attached to a bag toggle for added convenience. In either case, it’s a step up from a simple compact that can only be carried.
With the new line, Kemas hopes to create a trend that moves away from bulky, heavy, burdensome make-up packaging towards something lighter, more versatile, and fun.
